Tarlac State University kept in synch with the entire country once more as it kicked off its 2023 National Women's Month celebration with a brief program during TSU Main Campus flag-raising ceremony earlier today (March 7, 2023).

This year’s celebration, led by the Philippine Commission on Women, marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new recurring theme that will last until 2028: “WE for gender equality and inclusive society.”

Furthermore, the sub-theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,” calls for the empowerment of women and girls toward maximizing their benefits from innovation and technology and bridging the gap in ICT and connectivity.

In his remarks, TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco said he will see to it that there will be equality in all the opportunities for TSU employees.

“I am committing; and I have the strength that I’ll always be objective, to be equal. Wala pong sasabihin na 'Babae ka lang.' My office is always open to you – akyat lang po kayo or you can set up a meeting with me. At kung may dapat baguhin, babaguhin po natin para sa university. Pantay-pantay po lahat,” he said.

For the month of March, the Gender and Development Office (GAD), led by its director Dr. Rita E. Pulmano, has prepared activities such as Purple Wednesdays, where employees are encouraged to wear purple in support of gender equality and women empowerment; #PurpleYourIcon Online Advocacy; and Musika ng Kababaihan Fridays (#MNKFridays), where the TSU Firefox Radio Station will play songs from the PCW’s MusikJuana Songwriting Contest 2021.

Additionally, the GAD Office is also promoting the annual Mx. Warriors 2023 to be held on March 17, 2023, organized by the TSU Supreme Student Council. This is a platform to support and empower the transgender women of the LGBTQIA+ community of the university.
